Hello readers,

Sorry, I've haven't been posting much thanks to my horrible AOL connection but I've moved to Virgin Media few months ago. So it's all good!

As most of you know, Iain Lee left a few weeks ago at LBC who's been replaced (temporary?) by Nick Abbot. But Iain Lee will be back on the radio in the new year.

Former managing director of LBC and now programme director of Virgin Radio, David Lloyd hired Iain for a new Sunday slot at 10pm-1am starting from January 6th.

He said to MickYNMA from the Tommy Boyd Shrine Forums...

Yeah, pretty exciting. National. Gonna be a similar show, with no more than 8 records per hour thrown in. Same nonsense, mostly callers. Really looking forward to it. What with this and boyd, sunday night is once again the home of exciting radio.

So the show will be sticking to the old format but a bit of music thrown in (Good thing, he hasn't moved to Choice FM then)

After many not very good entries, it was decided by Iain to call the 7-10pm Show, "Iain Lee's Good Evening".

Iain's new show will start broadcasting on 8 January 2007. Triple M won't have it's own slot on the weekday slot but Triple M can be on whenever Iain wants to. And Correspondents will be scraped because of most correspondents couldn't be bothered to phone in.

Drinking with Listeners on Wednesday was cancelled because of Security reasons but in the new year, Iain will have a picnic will his listeners in Hyde Park.

On the last The 3 and a Half Hour 3 'Till 6:30 Iain Lee Afternoon Wireless Show featured a number of guests including Dave in The Hackney, Lynn from Forest Gate (who is not fat), Varinder, Gram, Yasser from the Stratford & Barry in The Watford. It was a brilliant show & must listen for Iain Lee fans.

Dave in The Hackney (wipasnapper) from DS & OnTheWireless.NET talked about him coming to LBC towers.

Ok guys....Wow what a show. I was dead nervous at first but then as time flew by I was very cool. I must say...Iain is the nicest person ive met on LBC. Ok i arrived at the studio at 3.50. Must say there was indeed tight security. Agent chris then escorted me uo to the studios. My first impression of agent chris..He does look very nice.

I then saw annabelle's family and congratulated her on her excellent correspondent updates. For a 12 year old i think she is a very very confident girl. Very nice parents she has. Phillip from south norwood was there along with Anne from twickenham. Both very very nice people. Phillip's voice is completely different on the radio than in real life. I managed to see how they ran things behind the glass with helen and lady alex. Both let me had a go with the jingles and dials.

Hehe it was funny to see how many people got red triangles beside their names (Dave from Croydon and Johnloony). We had about 1000+ calls during the first 2 hours which was fantastic.

I was really pleased to see Iain and had a chat about clive bull and vallen during the ads and travel. I wont go into details about vallen but he said clive is a genuine good man and he respects him.

Now lynne ....She is NOTHING as to what i thought about her when she rings in. She is one of the most beautiful women ive ever seen. Iain was genuinely shocked when he saw her. LOL other producers popped in to see what she looked like and they were taking pictures. Even Heather Jingles came in and gave her a kiss(I think hes got a fantastic figure and is a nice man). When she came in she was shivering. Me and Iain couldn't decide if she was nervous or cold. She was a bit freaky in when me and iain were joking about she took it seriously. I couldn't help myself laughing. Overall she is a pretty woman but needs to take things on the chest.

I did take pics of what she looked like. But she did say she didnt want both me and Iain to post it up on the internet.

When my time was up i stayed behind for a bit to see what yasser looks like. Man he is REAL hes no act. Hes got very nice eyes i must say lol. Gram was as grumpy and old but he did made me chuckle when he made some rude comments about Agent chris. Varinder was there. My God the boy is fat. LOL

Dave and Barry... Genius. You can make up your minds about them.

Overall i thought the show was absolutely great. I will miss Iain during the afternoon but also looking forward to hear him back in the early Evening.

Mike Dicken R.I.P

talkSPORT presenter Mike Dicken has died at hospital today. He was in six car pile-up on A20 yesterday.

Mike Dicken was a former LBC presenter, mainly on London Talkback Radio. He hosted overnight phone-in on talkSPORT.

James Whale will be pay tribute on Thursday night

We give condolences to Mike's family at this sad time.

There are great posts in this blog but this is a poor excuse for a post.

It's the usual guff today on The Afternoon Wireless with the great loonies & freaks.

Horribly Iain was entering to Mike Dicken territorial (AHHHHH!) with a caller about clamping but Iain has done well & should get a medal. Also he want to get put on hold when he want the hold music from the Royal Mail. If you listen to Friday's show, e-mail & call Iain what the music is & where can he buy the piece of loveliness exploited in the dark deeps of Royal Mail Customer service.

And later tonight Iain will be going to the underground of LBC (rather a tent) to Becky Walsh's Psychic show for a reading (may be a lot of guff but hey). Don't miss that bit of Psychic show.

Iain Lee announced that the last afternoon wireless show on the 22nd December will have guests featuring regulars callers & correspondent awards.

On Monday, Stephen Murdoch from IOS Solutions will be coming in to answer computers & gadgets questions & as Barry vs Stephen battle continues.

On Tuesday, Igor from Montenegro will be coming in to talk about his latest Christmas single which was featured on the Clive Bull.

On Wednesday, Eduardo will add a bit of foreign spice with his music.

On Thursday, Frank Sidebottom will be coming in for Music Thursday.

Accord to a UK comedy guide site, Paul Ross will replace Iain at Drivetime & Iain will have new show at 7pm but it's not know if it's Weekdays or Weekends. Paul Ross currently presents a Sunday morning show on LBC.

Iain was moved out of Drivetime because the bosses thought that he was too 'culty'. It's expected that LBC will be post the new scheduled in due course.

Iain is off to LA to interview the LOST cast but he will be back in time (We hope) for Triple M this sunday.

So Nick Abbot will be filling in Iain, Nick Abbot could be the person that could take Iain's slot in the new year as Iain is moving to a new slot.

Breaking News is that Iain is moving to a new slot but we aren't sure where he would be moving, he says that LBC told him last wednesday.

This will the 3rd time he moves slot, firstly with his 10-1 Weekends slot then to 4-7/3-6:30 Weekdays since last year.

He will more likely move to his new slot in the new year as that where new contracts are given.

There are rumours that Danny Baker will leave BBC London for LBC 97.3 but they are just rumours & it suggested that Nick Abbot will be replacing Iain.

So you've probably heard the news. I shall be moving LBC slots at the start of the year. The afternoon show shall be no more. I've been told it's because of listeners, but the figures are certainly up from when I took over, and peak quite high at 5.30. The bosses have said the show is too culty and isn't mainstream enough for that slot. I'm depressed about it and more than a little dissappointed (I can never spell that word!) but hey, they're not sacking me. I can still pay the mortgage. And I can still do a radio show, hopefully with a little more freedom and less ads then I have now. I have a vague idea what the new slot will be, but until I know for sure do you mind if I keep it under my hat? People will be moved, some will not be getting their contracts renewed. It's always a tough time for the self employed presenter, so please let this news come in it's own time.

Hey, good news, Triple M on a Sunday is doing brilliantly well, getting fantastic listeners. So that's safe. That's in the bag. Do not panic about that or anything. We shall still have fun. Promise.

So that means that Triple M is staying on Sundays.

Yasser is Back

Yasser in the Stratford is back on radio after Iain found his phone number & called him. And there was a treat when Varinder came on air to talk with Yasser.

A few months ago Yasser didn't call Iain's show because Iain "lied" about the clocks going back in the summer & Yasser came on for a Iain to say that the clocks are going forward on 29th October (How stupid Yasser is).

That's means Varinder won't be calling anymore as he was just a "filler" & Yasser will be calling 2 times a week.

Clive's jingles are back but under a comprise, a few days ago Heather Jingles (Chris Lowrie) had enough & took Clive's jingles & gave him the "gassy" intro. Later The Managing Director of LBC got involved & discuss about the matter with Heather on View from the Top Special.

And this lead to a meeting with Clive & Heather & they agreed a comprise that Clive gets his jingles back but they have to be played at a choosing time by Heather.

They came on Monday with the Pinky & the Brain jingles & received a great response from callers including Edwina who shouted "Yes Yes Yes".

The listeners had there say & won.

The Iain Lee Forum will be mergered with it's sister forum Tommy Boyd Forum as of this sunday. The new name hasn't be released but it will be generic name.

A few months IainLeeForum.com was made because the Iain Lee thread on the Tommy Boyd Forum was so popular & was decided for a seperate forum to be made. After that the Tommy Boyd Forum was remaining in the "dark".

Hello!

This is a subject which has appeared often on the TommyBoydForum.com site, not so much this one.

But after talking to a few members, and the backing of Sir Iain himself, we're going to go ahead with this idea i've had.

Whilst the chatroom draws more than its fair share of Internet users on a Sunday night, I feel that the forum isn't used anywhere near as much as it could be. I cannot seem to justify there being a forum here other than to house the chatroom.

I happened to notice when i started sharing the chatroom between Tommys and Iains shows on a Sunday night, that Tommy and Iain fans tend to like the same sort of radio.

So i thought why have separate forums, when we can have one big one? Now this has been talked about before on the TommyBoydForum.com, and a lot of people didn't like it. But i've made a slight alteration to the plan which i hope people will like. The new forum will have the usual discussion sections like General Discussion, Funnies, Argument Area and so forth, but will house separate sections for each presenter. So if a particular user doesn't like Tommy or Iain, they can keep to their sections. But at the SAME TIME they can meet new people in the General Chat sections and what have you. I think this can only be good for the community, and Iain seems to think it's a good idea.

There will be one BIG chatroom for everybody. It will unlike the current one also work over firewalls etc, so Iain can drop in on the new chatroom whilst he is doing his show which'll be a laugh no dout!

The great thing about this idea will be that, we don't have to stop at Tommy or Iain, we can draw even more new members in with sections about Clive Bull, or the likes of Danny Baker, perhaps even Howard Stern who knows! I think it could be great.

Whilst i appreciated your opinions in other threads i've talked about this, I am now making the decision that it's definitely going to happen, and will definitely be open for the two shows this Sunday.

Now before you ask, we are starting afresh members wise. There are too many members here who don't post, so we are wiping the slate clean as far as members go, so you will have to sign up again. However, i am going to transfer the posts from each forum into their said sections, so the history of these sites will not be lost.

When that is done however, TommyBoydForum.com and IainLeeForum.com will no longer exist. The web addresses will link to the new site, but their lives as separate sites will be over as of this Sunday

I'll let you know of the new address when it is registered. Until then, feel free to comment

London Talkback Radio was the successful part of the split of LBC on October 1989 unlike LBC Crown FM & Talkback lasted until LBC weren't rewarded it's licence.

Do you have any tapes of the old format? It seems LBC, in one of their
moves chucked them out. Steve Campen, who produces the Vintage LBC
podcasts would like any recordings.

Jeff Wayne on Music Thursday

The master of LBC Jingles, Jeff Wayne is coming on Iain's Music Thursday 3-4pm & Jeff was also the guy that produced the Musical Version of War of The Worlds. He made jingles for LBC & there's was many versions including the famous 1974 LBC Jingle package.

Iain hopes that he will be allowed to play the jingles all the time on the show.

So he's on the Thursday 21st September 2006 at 3pm.

Ofcom: Triple M swear resolved

Ofcom has decided that the swear on 30 July's Triple M was resolved & no action will be taking by Ofcom.

On July 30th a caller on Triple M said C***, which was dumped on DAB but not on FM, after Triple M couldn't carry on & music had to played.

This what they said

The word “c***” is amongst those considered the most offensive in research into
swearing carried out by Ofcom.

However we appreciate the broadcaster’s prompt action alerting us to the incident and accept that it occurred as a result of a technical error.

In the light of this, and the fact that the broadcaster apologised of its own accord, we consider the matter resolved.

No other action was taken by LBC Management & returned to normal after that show.

New Correspondents for Christmas

LBC has launched today on MXR multiplex on DAB Digital Radio. Not all of UK will get LBC but these regions will:

North East
North West
South Wales
West of England
West Midlands
Yorkshire

Each region will have it's own news & travel by newsroom in the region, the launch show was presented by Steve Allen and the first call from each region to phone Nick's show will get Pure One DAB radio.

This is first bit of expansion plans & they are also trying to get the Manchester licence on 106.2.

The correspondents have been warned if they don't update, they will get the sack. Jamie in the Fulham is the first correspondent to get sacked twice, he was sacked a few months.

GMBC (Manchester version of LBC) which could win the licence to broadcast in Manchester have launched their website. The website tells about the new station & what will happen if they win the licence. It also includes a message board to talk about GMBC & but there is still no sign of life on it. It also uses LBC as a preview for GMBC for potential Manchester listeners.

Nick said that he won't stand for the conservative party but he might run as a independent. He was favourite for mayor but backed down for the last minute because of LBC. He said needs 12 months but Conservative said 6 months. This might have caused disaster to the Conservative Party so they need somebody else.

The new correspondent list is now up on LBC website. Annabelle got triple promoted to Super Cars & Kids Uber Veteran Correspondent, while Dave in The Hackney got Longest Stuff Uber Veteran Correspondent. One Correspondent is on one month trial. Because of no correspondents calling in on tuesday, two correspondent will be sacked.

Triple M Special Tonight!

Triple M will have no Iain Lee, tonight's show will just have callers, tasters were on the last few Triple M shows where Iain didn't talk and callers do the talking & this will happen for the whole three hours, because of legal reqiurements Agent Chris will be there to dump any bad things. The show has caught the eye of talk radio. This experment will more likely not happen again but you never know.

Sunday Times' Paul Donovan comment that it's "bizarre", even slate the afternoon show & saying that we need more good phone-ins.

LBC is expanding on DAB

LBC 97.3 will be going live in North East, North West, South Wales & West, West Midlands and Yorkshire on DAB Digital Radio. LBC has just replaced the Digital News Network (Rolling News Station) on MXR Multiplex but they testing it with looped previews. So.....

LBC 97.3 will launch in september with news & travel for each region above. It's suggested that the news/travel will be done by the Chrysalis stations in the areas above.

LBC will be launch fully in the areas above in the beginning of september.

Triple M will have no presenter on the 30th!

Great Week for LBC

This week has been great for London's LBC because of today's Rajar figures. Now 3.2% of market share of listeners, up by 0.7%, today's figures mean that creep up on their high of 3.7% since 1999. Since Chrysalis take over from ITN, LBC's average figure is 2.58%.

Pre-Show Report: Update on Correspondent List

Hello Readers of this blog,

This my pre-show report of most important day on the Iain Lee calendar. The Update on The correspondent List.

Most people predict that most of the correspondents will go today, I agree with this fact. I think only about 1/6 of the correspondents will stay, they are the ones that are most loyal of listeners.
Yesterday Iain said that correspondents are making excuses such as they have to go out with there family or something but there's no excuses especially for the kids because it's the easter holidays. One excuses I could think of that Ice Cold FM on 97.1FM are causing inference to LBC 97.3 on FM Radio but still Iain won't take excuses.

The objective of last update on the correspondent list was to get the most loyal listeners that wanted to be correspondent because of the January Sales. But I don't think Iain passed on that objective. This time I think that there be more listeners than the last update because of the Easter Holidays. So there will be lots of correspondents coming in as well as coming out than last.

Correspondent will be hoping that they won't go but most won't be listening even not listening to Iain ever again.

It's hard to find good & bad correspondents because the list is too long so Iain picks from Top of the list, that will be good for the correspondents down in the bottom of the list because Iain won't have time.

Iain won't do e-mails requests because he needs to know how good the correspondents are.

I hope Iain will leave the good ones in the list & get some good correspondents.

To see if a correspondent is doing good or bad is when the correspondent fever is over.

Lots of people think that Yasser will go today but Iain might pull in a surpise & leave him on the list. Iain had lots of trouble with the Dr. Who Correspondent but many many times when we think he going to go.... he hasn't. Iain has to decided over correspondents & personality. But we will wait & see.

Yasser is allowed back on Iain's show because the LBC 'Crew' said that Iain can only ban two callers in a month. But April is around the corner & could be banned again & even lose his correspondent job.

Ten Correspondents have been sacked on Friday

On Monday, Iain said that Ten Correspondents will be sacked on Friday. His Reason was that he had enough with telling correspondents to e-mail & call in. And Iain said even the popular correspondents could be sacked on Friday.

There are currently 70 Correspondents, Runescape Correspondent resigned because he hasn't played Runescape for 3 months.

Today on the podcast bit of iTunes, Iain Lee's Podcast was featured by a very big banner on top of the page. Iain hopes that this will raise him up the charts from 33th place. Iain's highest was 5th in the charts in the pre-premium podcast era but he dropped even when premium podcasting didn't launch yet at the 20s. Only his show is in Top 100 out of the rest of the LBC 97.3 shows.

£100 LBC Car Sticker sold on eBay!

Last Tuesday someone put on eBay a LBC 97.3 Car Sticker that was signed by Bob (Clive's producer). Last Night this bid ended at massive £100. And the money was given to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The winner was a father of a child that was cared by Great Ormond Street.

EPG Changes to Sky for LBC

From 28 February 2006, LBC 97.3 will be moving to 0177. Not 117 because that's TG4 (An Irish Channel). 927 is going to be Red Hot All Girl. So it's 0177. Sky are Reshuffling the EPG because of introduction of new categories on early february & it will free up the EPG for more channels.

Remeber LBC will be on 0177

The Doctor Who Correspondent (Yaasar in The Stratford) could be one of correspondent to get sacked because a listener said that his updates weren't good & he called in about points system but he wasn't booked to called in about that and Iain said that "You should have listened".

On Tuesday's 5:38PM Correspondent Update, a sacked correspondent called in and updated in. And shouldn't have update in

On Friday, the Doctor Who Correspondent called before 6:00pm and said that he couldn't call Iain because he was in the police station, Iain allowed him to update.

This has made lots of people to have a look, at the counter it's about 1300 hits. The Bids were drawn then withdrawn

Vandalism on Wikipedia's Iain Lee Article has made a new high.

It started on 31 January 2006.

Firstly one person wrote that

Iain was a Massive C**T

This continued with

... And appears regulary on Channel 4's G** Comedians

Then someone wrote to the correspondent that

Iain, I'm gonna sue u furry ass if you don't stop with all this crap!!!!

This continued with someone say that Iain called black person a "d**khead" but this was wrong, a listener like his mi**e for his face hole, Iain being g**.

This has being ended by him being blocked from editing on Wikipedia by a admin but different editor called a Iain a martin & a g** then another editor called Iain a sex god and this was deleted. Another saying that I was brought up in Russia. Then some totally deleted the page and added a page about Iain being a Martian "Mars Warlord". Another again totally delete the article & said the person wanted to know about cartoons. Another saying that he was born in 1634.

Correspondents could face the chop again!

A few minutes ago, Iain Lee wasn't unhappy with the correspondents because only one correspondent (More likely, Car & Kids) has called in for the Correspondent Update at 5:38pm.

So Iain said on On-Air that if another correspondent doesn't call in, Iain will start sacking more correspondents.

Few minutes later...
Iain has two correspondents to call in but he said that at least 3 correspondents could get sacked by next week. And called the correspondents "Losers". But this could be a threat!
